I really enjoyed our last lesson. Inclusion in education is key because it ensures that all students have their place in the classroom. We as teachers should make every student feel welcome and provide the supports they need to learn. Moreover, we should understand that all children learn better if teaching is adapted to their abilities and interests. It goes without saying that we should ensure that all children can succeed regardless of their differences in ability, race, gender, native language, ethnicity, and so forth, in order to achieve their highest potential.
I am glad to hear that it is useful for your lessons and that you're are fully aware of the situations we need to be able to face and cope with in our teaching environment.
Since I took the subject Educación Inclusiva I started to fully understand the importance of inclusion in our classrooms and schools. We still have to work on many things though, but I'm glad that we are being aware of what we should do and try every day to change some realities. Sharing our experiencies and thinking together on how we can help our students encouraged me to continue learning about inclusion and get prepared for any situation I could encounter in my classroom.
I agree there is still a long way to go but we are becoming more and more aware and we now have the possibility to develop other skills to tackle these situations that in the past were just ignored or were left for the student and the family to solve. Many times schools simply washed their hands or got rid of the problem rather than helping.
Exactly! When I first thought of becoming a teacher, I was worried about many different aspects that I could encounter in a class, but I have never thought about inclusion as a big challenge, probably because it didn't have an important role. Fortunately, we are becoming more aware of this issue and receiving lots of information about it, not enough though, since inclusion in every area is still a difficult topic.
Last class was lovely. I really enjoyed it. It is amazing how we can learn from each other´s thougths, beliefs and opinions. I did my field work on Inclusive Education because it was an area I did not know much about. I still think that this is just the beginning, but we need to work on how to teach all the students we have (not just some or the ones we choose). I do believe that as teachers we need to cater for all our sts´ needs and learning styles. We need to set an example which embraces singularities rather than differences. I´ve also learnt that asking for help is also valid because we may feel lost or not know how to go about a specific situation… Sharing is learning as well. The final product we did together was a very creative task. See you tomorrow!
I believe that having this space to rethink and reevaluate our teaching practices is truly valuable. Sharing our experiences was liberating in the sense that, as we've seen in class, we need to work together to promote inclusive education and help each other when it comes to this matter, especially since we usually feel that we're not prepared to work with students with disabilities. However, I think inclusive education goes beyond that, and thus, we need to rethink our teaching practices to embrace difference, celebrate it and learn how to "include" it in our lessons, so that every students feels welcomed and reach their highest potential.

ResponderBorrarThat's right. Sometimes some students are left out for different reasons even by teachers. We should become aware of that and act accordingly.
